Harvey D. Besaw, 71, 1200 East 10th, died Wednesday in Seattle, He had been in ill health for several months and had recently been hospitalized in Seattle.
He was born October 14, 1905 at Fond du Lac, Wisc. He and Bertha Stickney were married in Tacoma in 1925. They came to Ellensburg the following year. He worked as a painter and with his brother Roy operated the Besaw Paint Store, first in Cle Elum in 1941 and later, from 1945 until 1952, in Ellensburg. He had been employed by Carl Knudson for a time and until retirement two years ago he operated the Hobby Shop on Capitol Avenue and also had a locksmith business.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha, April 24, 1971. For the past six months, he had lived in Seattle with his son, Dale and his family at 7704 - 19th Avenue NE.
He was a member of the First Christian Church and the Moose and Odd Fellows lodges.
In addition to his son Dale of Seattle, he is survived by another son, William of Bellevue; 8 grandchildren; one brother, Roy of Ellensburg, and a sister, Irene Ilyer of Tacoma.
Funeral is today at 2 p.m. at the Evenson Chapel. Entombment will follow at the IOOF Mausoleum. The family suggests memorials to Medic I, 301 2nd Ave. S., Seattle, 98104.
