J. O. GIBSON DIES AT NOON TODAY - Death came to another Kittitas pioneer, J. O. Gibson, here at noon today. The well-known Ellensburg resident, who came to the valley in 1888, died at the home of Fred Stickney on Pacific avenue.

OBITUARY: Ellensburg Daily Record, Ellensburg, Kittitas County, Washington dated 10 May 1936. GIBSON SERVICES HERE ON TUESDAY -
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Honeycutt chapel for Joseph O. Gibson, 86-year-old valley pioneer, who died at his home in West Ellensburg on Saturday.
Mr. Gibson had been a resident of the Kittitas valley since 1888 and for more than 20 years was ditch walker on the West Side ditch.
Born in Boston October 1, 1850, he moved with his family to Stillwater, Minn. when he was four years old and from there to Star Prairie, Wis. There he was married on April 3, 1881 to Anna E. Stickney. They lived on the West Side until last year, when they moved to West Ellensburg.
He is survived by his widow and a foster son, Fred Stickney.

Joe Gibson kept a postcard scrapbook. His nieces and nephews all sent him postcards from 1907 onward. He also kept postcards from friends and family back in Stillwater, Minnesota. A brother or brother-in-law was mentioned as Frank. One postcard was signed Sister Sarah. Joe's widow gave this postcard album to niece Doris Kinkade.

He and Anna had no children of their own; however, they raised their nephew, Fred Stickney.
