He was preceded in death by, his beloved wife of 67 years, Jewell Webster Alford; his parents, Stafford and Lyda Escue Alford; his sisters, Lillian Wolfe and Faye Chandler; his brothers, Elwood, Cline, and Forrest Alford. Ellis was a member of the Church of God and was a lifelong resident of Lincoln County, St. Albans, and the Scott Depot areas. He retired from FMC in 1971 after 38 years of dedicated employment and operated Alford's Lawnmower and Fixit Shop in Teays Valley for over 35 years.
Services were held at 2:00 pm Thursday July 10, 2008, at Chapman Funeral Home, 3941 Teays Valley Rd, Hurricane WV with the Rev. Keith Hudson officiating. Burial followed in the Pauley Cemetery, Tango, West Virginia.
