A daughter of Thomas J. and Edith (Ricketts) Small, Ellen married John Christopher "Jack" Cann in Westport,Decatur Co., IN Nov. 27, 1929. The Canns lived in Westport.

She was a member of the Westport Christian Church and was the mother of four children; a son and three daughters. At the time of her death she had ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, and also was survived by three brothers and six sisters.

"Ellen Cann, 92, Westport, died at 5 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2000 at Decatur County Memorial Hospital.

"Born Feb. 18, 1908, in Decatur County, she was the daughter of Thomas Jeffrey and Edith (Ricketts) Small. She married John Christopher Cann Nov. 27, 1929 in Westport and he preceded her in death July 31, 1960."

Survivors in include one son, three daughters, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, David Armand, Jr.; two sons-in-law, Arvis Hampton and David Armand, Sr.; three brothers, John Curtis, Elbert Warren, Lewis Small; six sisters, Theodosia Miller, Mina Evans, Bess Laird, Venus Small, Lizzie Small and Addie Small.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bass & Gaspar Funeral Home in Westport. Burial is in Westport Cemetery.
