John retired from from the Everman branch of the USPS. He was a member of the Church of Christ for many years. John was born on Jan. 19, 1919 in Roscoe. He was the 11th child of Eva Booth and John H. Absher. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II for four and a half years and received two bronze medals.
Survivors: Wife, Betty of 61 years July 27; daughter, Melodee Halbach and husband, Joe; grandson, Jesse Hodges; and grandson by marriage, Ben Halbach and his wife, Sarah.
