Before 1860, Robert and his family moved to Nodaway County, Missouri and settled in Jackson Township, near Ravenwood. During the Civil War Robert served in Companies C and H, the Nodaway County Regiment of the Missouri Home Guards. After he Mustered out in October of 1861, they apparently returned to Illinois for a while wheretwo of their children were born. In 1868 they bought land and returned to Nodaway County where they farmed and lived out their lives. They were the parents of seven children. ~bio by M.Vinton

Died at his home near Ravenwood Sunday, December 16, 1900, Robert Allen, age 78.
The funeral was held at ? church and services were conducted by Rev. J.H. Sneed on Monday at 10 a.m. and the remains were taken to the Sweet Home Cemetery and for interment.
His wife, 2 sons, 2 daughter, a brother & sister remain to morn his absence. They were present at the funeral, excepting one daughter who resides in Iowa.
Note: Obituary file at Nodaway Co Historical Society states he was buried in the Sweethome Cemetery, however the grave index of the cemetery does not show his name. No grave marker has been found.
