Abner retired from the U.S. Army after 23 years where he served in World War II and Korea. Abner also retired from the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office and was a member of the Scottish Rite.
Abner was preceded in death by his wives, Cecelia and Mabel Skinner; two sons, Ronald and Robert Skinner; and one daughter, Dajuana Skinner.
Survivors: Children, Abner Jr., Jimmy, Deborah, Eddie and David; stepchildren, Bruce and Darrell Fisher and Cheryl McCrary; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and nine stepgrandchildren.
