Joanne, a student of Yuba City high school and a member of the school choir was killed in the horrible bus accident that claimed 26 other student and a teacher near Martinez, CA. The daughter of Chester and Dorothy Matson, she was buried on May 24, 1976.
Joanne was a late in life child that her parents welcomed. She was three weeks away from her 16th birthday and had joined the Morman Church the previous year. At the age of three she became her father's fishing partner, joining him on weekends and on vacations. After losing his beloved daughter, he no longer fished.
