HUGHEY MAN ABBOT, JR.

Hughey Man Abbott Jr., age 68, passed from this life Friday, July 18, at Flowers Hospital. He was born in Pensacola on February 22, 1940 to Hughey and Obie (Newton) Abbott Sr. Mr. Abbott worked as an engineer at WestPoint Home. He had lived here since 1976 coming from California, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chipley.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Abbott of Chipley; three sons: Norman Abbott, Todd Abbott and wife Ginger, and Gary Abbott and wife Tammy, all of Chipley; one daughter, Kimberly Abbott of Chipley; one brother, William David Abbott of Alabama; two sisters: Mary Davis of Albany, Oregon and Elaine Waters of Okeechobee; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, at the First Baptist Church in Chipley with the Rev. Mike Orr officiating. Internment will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 21, at Brown Funeral Home, Brickyard Road Chapel.
