TWO DEAD
IN OREGON
ACCIDENT

A Wheatland man and his brother-in-law were killed and their wives injured in a two-car head on collision near Roseburg, Oregon yesterday.

Bert Tarrant, 552, and his brother-in-law, Earl Adams, 63, of Fresno were killed in the crash. In critical condition at a Roseburg, Oregon hospital is Tarrant's wife, Vera, about 47. Adams' wife also was hurt in the crash.

The two couples were enroute to Walla Walla, Washington to visit the ill father of the two women, who are sisters.

The Adams' picked up the Tarrants at Wheatland and they all headed north in one car. According to reports, the driver of the other vehicle was not seriously injured.

A native of Texas, Tarrant was employed by the Horst ranch near Wheatland. He had lived in the Wheatland area off and on since 1938. His home was on Spenceville road.

Survivors include a son, Roland, serving in the Air Force at Berlin, Germany; four brothers, Milt Tarrant of Wheatland, Noble Tarrant of Richmond, Oscar Tarrant of Eureka nad Willie Tarrant of Tulare, and two sisters, Mrs. Lola Hill of Wheatland and Mrs. Twillie King of Woodlake.

BERT K. TARRANT

TARRANT -- Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday for Bert K. Tarrant, 52, of Wheatland, who died last Tuesday in an Oregon auto accident.

A native of Texas, he had resided in the Wheatland area for more than 30 years and was employed by the Horst Ranch. He made his home with his wife, Vera, on Spenceville Road.

Besides his wife, survivors include a son, Roland, with the Air Force in Germany; four brothers, Milton Tarrant of Wheatland, Noble Tarrant of Richmond, Oscar Tarrant of Eureka nad Willie Tarrant of Tulare, and two sisters, Mrs. Lola Hall of Wheatland and Mrs. Twillie King of Woodlake; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at Lipp and Sullivan Chapel. Burial will be in Wheatland Cemetery.
