Michael E. Larkin, 68, passed away Monday, July 21, 2008, at Portneuf Medical Center, with his family by his side.
He was born to Thomas J. and Julia A. (O'Keefe) Larkin on June 29, 1940. Mike was raised on a farm in Chubbuck and loved the country life. Mike went to St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from Pocatello High School. He then went to Vo-tech and graduated in auto body department.
Mike loved tinkering with cars and was an excellent body and fender man, but decided to change course and became a member of the Local 732 Iron Workers, a trade he enjoyed and stayed with until retirement.
On January 21, 1963, he married Dixie Hardman in Elko, Nevada. They shared 43 wonderful years together. You rarely saw them apart.
He is survived by his wife, Dixie who remained by his side during this difficult journey; his two sons, Randy Michael and Rick Ray (Brooke Cutler) Larkin; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; siblings, JoAnne Poppleton and Don Larkin, all of Pocatello. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Robert F., Thomas K., and Colleen Larkin Wilkes.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008, at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. Fourth Ave., Pocatello. Friends may visit with family on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and again on Saturday from noon to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery.
