Wife of Joseph Patrick Devaney whom she married on June 8, 1921 at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Jersey City, New Jersey. Joe died in 1957. Mother of seven children, Mrs. Eleanor Agnes Stanley, John Patrick Devaney, Mrs. Madeline Mary Welsh, Joseph Raymond Devaney, James Edward Devaney, Mrs. Patricia Ann Cox, and Thomas Vincent Devaney.

During World War II, Helen (also known as "Ellen") and her sisters were employed as a "Rosie the Riveter" in the Kearney Ship Yards.
