Christine Marie Bostian Akin, 87, of Monticello, died Friday, September 10, 2004, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.

Born December 17, 1916, in Drew County, she was a daughter of the late James Franks Bostian and Victoria Raines Bostian.

She was a homemaker, a former house parent at the Arkansas Baptist Home for Children and a member of First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil W. Akin Sr.; three brothers; five sisters; and a grandson, Christopher Kirby Akin.

Survivors include two sons, Cecil W. Akin Jr. and wife Rhita of Ramer, Tenn.; and George R. Akin Sr. and wife Pat of Monticello; two daugthers, Mary Elizabeth Masenholder of Fayetteville and Sara Jane Garate and husband Albert of Hot Springs; two sisters, Maude Meek of Wilmar and Claricy Denham of Malvern; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Funeral services were held September 13 at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home with Dr. David Mitchell and the Rev. Dennis Dodson officiating. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Robert Akin, Brandon Acree, Buddy Johnson, Greg Akin, Bobby Bostian and Jerry Akin.
