Eva Irene Bordeaux
1906-2000
Eva Irene Bordeaux, formerly of Craig, died July 23, 2000, in Anaheim, Calif. She was 93.
On Dec. 1, 1906, in Steamboat Springs, she was born the daughter of Frank Miller and Laura Belle Garten. She moved to Craig with her family at the age of nine. She attended Craig schools graduating from Craig High School in 1925. Bordeaux attended Teachers Normal School and taught in a one room school house on Breeze Basin.
On Feb. 20, 1928, in Montrose, she married Harmon Bordeaux Sr. They lived in Craig during WWII and she substituted in Craig schools. In 1947 they moved to Casper, Wyo., where her husband had been transferred, and lived there for some 20 years. After her husband retired, they moved back to Craig. In 1994 she moved to California.
She was active in the Jane Jeffersons, the Ladies Recreation Club, American Legion Auxillary the Rebecca Lodge, worked on election boards and as a guide, historian for the Marcia Railroad Car and a member of CC.
Bordeaux is survived by daughters, Marceline Bott of Buena Park, Calif., and Sharon (Gary) Dufresne of Bremerton, Wash.; son, Harmon (Alice) Bordeaux Jr., of Gallup, N.M., eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren and numerous neices and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, George, Tom and Dewey, and sister, Lena Case.
Services were held July 29, 2000, at the First Congregational Church in Craig. Reverend Beth Purdum officiated the service. Soloist was Carol Buchanon singing "Precious Lord Take My Hand" and "The End of a Perfect Day."
Pallbearers were, Sean Hinshaw, Christopher Hinshaw, Michael Bordeaux, Dylan Reid, Marvin Moore and Gary Dufresne.
Burial was at the Craig Cemetery.
