Mr. Cunningham died on Monday, Jan. 8, 1996 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Clinton Township, Mich., following a short illness.
He was retired from General Motors and was also a carpenter. He was a 50 year member of Canton Masonic Lodge No. 242.
Mr. Cunningham was born on May 13, 1912 in Trigg County, son of the late Elmer 'El' E. Cunningham and Rosa Lee Bridges Cunningham. Survivors include six sons, Gene Cunningham of Sterling Heights, Mich., Darryl Cunningham of Symsonia, Ky., Ronald K. Cunningham of Clear Springs, Fla., Gerald Cunningham of Westminster, Colo., Larry L. Cunningham of Fargo, N.D., and Jeffrey Cunningham of Livonia, Mich.; one sister, Mavis Rowen of El Centro, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandchild; three brothers, Carmon Cunningham in 1969, Clyde Cunningham in 1973, and Ollie Cunningham; two sisters, Maurine Creamer in 1950, and Myrtie Finley in 1985.
Mae Perdue served as organist. Expression of sympathy may take the form of donations to Gideons International.
