OBITUARY :
BASIL HOWARD SEE, 87, died April 30, 1999, at Oakley.

He was born Nov. 4, 1911, in Scott County, the son of Irvin Henry and Lottie Ryan See. A resident of Oakley since 1980, he grew up in Manning, and had formerly lived in Scott County as a farmer. He was 30-year resident of Grandview, Mo., where he was a school custodian.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Oakley and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels at the Senior Citizens Center.

In 1940 he married Madge Hall. She died in 1978. On Sept. 27, 1980, he married Lidwina Marie Rome at Kansas City, Kan. She survives.

Other survivors include: two brothers, Russell, Mt. Vernon, Mo., and Walter, Scott City; four sisters, Hazel Eikermann, Flagler, Colo., Dorothy Patton and Pearl Strickert, both of Scott City, and Lorena Turley, Modoc; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant son; Leslie; a brother, Earnest; and two sisters, May Fick and Fern Kiser.

Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Kennedy-Koster Funeral Home, Oakley. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic church, Oakley, with Frs. Roger K. Meitl and August Moeder presiding. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Scott City Cemetery at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may be sent to St. Joseph Church, Oakley, in care of the funeral home.
