He was born March 22, 1948, in Bloomington to Clarence R. Alexander Sr. and Joan (Scott) Alexander.
He was retired from AT&T after 31 years of service. He was a United States Navy veteran. He was a proud Elks member. He also was a member of the Monroe County Auxiliary Police, American Legion, AMVETS, Eagles and Telecom Pioneers.
He loved Ireland and the song "Danny Boy."
Survivors include his parents, Clarence Sr. and Joan Alexander, both of Bloomington; three children, Clarence "Clancy" Alexander III, of Bloomington, Stephanie Rexing, of Cleveland, Ohio, and Tech Sgt. Patrick Alexander with the USAF, from Oklahoma City, Okla.; five grandchildren, Morgan and Jordan Grant, Sydney Rexing and Katherine and Jacob Alexander; one brother, Stephen Scott Alexander, of Youngstown, Ohio; one sister, Angelia Radel, of Richmond; and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Mary Joanne Grant; his mother-in-law, Mary Jenkins; and his nephew Andrew Radel.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Borromeo Church, with Father Bill Stumpf officiating. Friends may call 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene & Harrell Chapel with a rosary at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
