Dunlap - Dorothy L. McMullen, 75, of Dunlap, died at 1:10 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2006, at Bel-Wood Nursing Home, Peoria, where she was a resident for one week.

Born on January 25, 1930, in Princeville, Illinois, the daughter of James Leo and Pearl A. Ross Callery, she married John E. McMullen on December 26, 1956. He died in 1981, in Milwaukee, also preceding her in death was one son, Robert in 1959, and one daughter, Annette in 1962.

Surviving is 2 sons, Mike McMullen of Fairfax, VA, and Dennis McMullen of Peoria, IL; 4 daughters, Mary Slaughter of Lexington, KY, Donna (and Steve) Rupkey of Oswego, IL,
Dianne (and Troy) Grafelman of Bartonville, IL, and Jennifer (and Drew) Jaegle of Bloomington, IL; 10 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Joseph Callery of Peoria Heights, IL, and Gene (and Roberta) Callery of Dunlap, IL; and 3 sisters, Bernice (and Wayne) Gronewald of Dunlap, IL, Kathleen (and Ted) Kulaga of Bettendorf, IA, and Mary (and Frank) Witting of Port Charlotte, FL.

She attended Marycrest, now St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA. She graduated from Bradley University, Peoria, with a BA and Master's Degree in Elementary Education.

She first taught school at Wilder Waite School in Alta, and then she went to Dunlap Grade School, where she taught for over 20 years, retiring in 1993. She was a member of Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Peoria.

She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Dunlap, where a funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2006. Father Bruce Lopez will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, at St. Jude Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery, Princeville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Peoria, or the Lupus Foundation of America.
