The son of Marshall Andrew and Dora Lee Coffman Abbott.
He was united in marriage on August 8, 1959, in Wardsville to Gloria Jean Bruemmer who survives at the home.

Mr. Abbott worked for Security Window & Door Co. from 1959-1970; Union Local 662 from 1970-1976 & 1978-1980; Hillcrest Dairy Co. from 1976-1978; Rajac Construction Co. from 1980-1988; and the Department of Corrections from 1989-1999. He also owned and operated The Greenhouse with his wife for ten years.

He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and Eagles Fraternal Order.

Robert's greatest passion and love was his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The special times spent with his family swimming and traveling will always hold a special place in their hearts. He always enjoyed visiting with all of his family and friends.

Other survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Robert Bauer, Rich Fountain; two sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Jane Abbott, Wardsville; Keith and Wanda Abbott, Folk; ten grandchildren, Travis and wife Jessica Bauer; Ashley and husband Matthew Starke; Courtney Bauer; Ryan Abbott; Madison Abbott; Tanner Abbott; Brooklyn Abbott; Logan Abbott; Isaac Abbott; Jeana Abbott; and three great-grandchildren, Coy Starke; Parker Bauer; and Isabelle Starke.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles Abbott.
