Anna Jeanette was born to David R. McPherson and Minnie Matilda Barrickman (1871-1904). When her mother Minnie died, her sister Jeanette C. Barrickman (1881-1931) and her husband William Peter Broadfoot (1873-1970) took her to raise as their own. It is unknown if they legally adopted her.

Anna Jeannette Broadfoot, 92, of Natrona Heights, Harrison, died Thursday (Nov. 2, 2000) in Highland Nursing Home, Genesis Eldercare, Brackenridge, were she had been a patient 10 days. Born July 7, 1908, in Brackenridge, she lived in the Kiski Valley all her life. A 1926 graduate of Har-Brack High School, she received a bachelor`s degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1930, with a teaching certificate in English, French, mathematics and history. Mrs. Broadfoot received a master`s degree in education from Pitt in 1958, becoming certified in counseling. She spent 41 years in education, with 28 years in the classroom and 13 years as a counselor, working first for Har-Brack High School for 38 years and three years for the newly formed Highlands School District. Ms. Broadfoot was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Tarentum, where she taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school, served as a trustee and deacon, served on the Chrisian Education and Pulpit committees, was active in the Misionary Societies, Women`s Association and Dorcas Class; was treasurer for 11 years of the Church Women United and 10 for years for the Women`s Club of Allegheny Valley; and Y-SOTA. President of the Har-Brack Teachers Association in 1956 and 1957, she also served as delegate to the local, county, state and national teachers and education associations to which she belonged. A member of the Tarentum History and Landmarks Foundation, she wrote a family history. Surviviors include a nephew and nieces. Ms. Broadfoot was preceded in death by her parents, William Peter and Jeannette Barrickman Broadfoot, and her brother, William Broadfoot. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the KRYNICKI FUNERAL HOME INC., 1007 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, where a service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday. Officiating will be the Rev. Kenneth Foust, pastor of Grace Community Presbyterian Church
