She was born May 21, 1917, near Oswego, Kansas, on May 21, 1917, the eldest child of Clifford and Mae (Beck) Hanigan. In 1934, she graduated from Labette County Community High School in Altamont. On July 10, 1938, she and Charles W. Tullis were married in Oswego.
For several years, Alma was the owner/operator of City Grocery in Bartlett. She was also a long-time member of the Bartlett United Methodist Church. Alma and Charles started the Foland Fliers 4-H Club and served as leaders for many years. Their four oldest children were charter members of the club. Alma will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Because family was most important to her, after her own children were grown, she hosted many multi-generation, extended family get-togethers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Tullis on August 7, 2002; son, Clifford B. Tullis and his daughter, Melissa; daughter, Mary Tullis Morris and her son, Brandon; sister, Margaret Hanigan; brother, Robert and his son, Ronald; and brother, Melvin Hanigan.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the Bartlett United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Lake Creek Cemetery near Bartlett. The children of Alma and their families will meet at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, at the Bartlett United Methodist Church. The family will receive other family and friends at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at the church.
