Warren was in the Army at the time of their marriage where he served from 1942-1946 in France, Germany and Belgium. He was employed as a coal miner and later a grounds man at the WVU Arboretum. In 1977 he played music at the Smithsonian Institute Festival of American Folklore. The family band has played at local as well as state fairs. Rose is a homemaker and a guitarist in the family band.

Warren "Fiddler" Tennant, 74, of RD 2, Fairview (Daybrook), died Monday, Aug 21, 1995, at his home after a long illness. He was born Nov. 29, 1920 at Daybrook, son of the late Peter E. and Myrtle Tennant. An accomplished musician, he performed at fairs, dances and craft shows, including the Festival of American Folklore at the Smithsonian Institute. He was a coal miner for 18 years and worked 10 years as a grounds man for WVU Core Arboretum. A veteran of World War Ii, he served in the European Theater. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rose Higgins Tennant, four sons, James Varner of Wind Ridge, Pa., Peter Wesley Tennant of Morgantown and James and Gary Tennant of Daybrook; two daughters, Bernice Tennant of Wadestown and Mary Knisley of Sterling, VA, a brother Charles K. Tennant of Metz, WV, 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Jasper Tennant, Kenneth Tennant, and Benjamin Tennant, Bill Tennant and Kelly Sine, and four sisters, Ethel Tennant, Oscie Tennant, Louie Vault, and Hazel Jones. Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville, from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Wednesday, Services will be at noon Thursday Aug 24, with Pastor James Tasker officiating.
