In the 6 years since I came across Jim's information there have been additional genetic testing done. There are several autosomal DNA matches(distant cousins matches) between descendants of this line and the Johann Niclaus Schaffer b. 1670 Relsberg Kusel Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany and died 1758 in Berks Co., Pa (his wife was Maria Catherina Suder) descendants. Expected most common ancestor would be probably no further back than 1750-60's. So it's quite possible that this Berks Co., Pa Schaffer family is her line or at least cousins to her Schaffer line Update ** 4-6-18 - Recent ,closer and involving several different lines leading to DNA connections to descendants of a David Shaffer b. 1769 in Shrewsbury, York County, Pennsylvania, d. 1854 in Windber, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. His age would make him a brother or some cousin to this Elizabeth Shaffer. Another interesting dna line is Shaffer sometimes written as Schaeffer. I do believe our Elizabeth is from the Somerset CO. Pa Shaffers.
