ALPHA A BANKS

Alpha A. Banks, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Banks, was born at Bladen, Nebraska, Aug. 27, 1889 and passed away at the Soldiers Home in Grand Island on May 18, 1944 at the age of 54 years, 8 months and 21 days. He had spent most of his life in and around Bladen. He was inducted into the army on Oct. 5, 1917 during World War I and was a private in Hdgrs. Co. of the 134th Inf. until his honorable discharge on January 28, 1918, by reason of psysical (sic) disability.

Alpha was known for his industry and was always able to find work if there was any to be had. He was honest in his dealings with his fellowmen and kind to his relatives and friends. Surviving him are four brothers, Orra, William and John, of Bladen and Roy of Ingleside; also two sisters, Chloe of Bladen and Mrs. Dora Boom of Omaha. His parents preceded him in death.

A short funeral service was conducted at the grave on Saturday May 20 with the American Legion in charge. Rev. Felsburg conducted a short prayer service. Interment was in East Lawn cemetery (sic).
