SUMMERFIELD - Edward J. Barham, 73, of 810 Haynes Road, died May 29, 1997, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 1997, at Mt. Bethel Christian Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. David Bowden and the Rev. Charles Vaughan will officiate.

A native of Rockingham County, he was a retired steel worker with J.D. Wilkins Company, and was a member of Mt. Bethel Christian Church. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II, was a P.O.W., and was a Purple Heart recipient.

He is survived by his wife, Bessie S. Barham of the home; daughter, Teresa Barham Campbell of Summerfield; sisters, Alsie Walker and Lola Beasley, both of Greensboro; brother, Harvey L. Barham of Greensboro; and granddaughters, Stacy L. Barham and Marsha L. Campbell.

He was preceded in death by his son, Edward Wayne Barham, and his daughter, Marsha Barham Harris.

The family will receive friends at Brooke Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, May 31, and other times at the residence.
