The 1850 Census shows a Harriet A. (less than 1) as the daughter of Ira Corby, Jr. 20 and Clarissa 19 his wife living in Chenango, Broome Co. NY. Grandfather Corby drove a wagon with one horse and "scouted" for their safety and fished in streams for the famiy to eat. The indians weren't friendly at the time - (there was trouble in South Dakota with Indian attacks).
