Arne Johan was the son of Finnish immigrants. He was born in Ironwood, Michigan. His father was an iron miner and later removed his family to Plummer, Minnesota and raised his family there on his home farm.
Arne married Emeline Margaet "Toots" Johnson in Minnesota, 1934. Together they raised 4 children.
Arne moved his family to Sacramento during the WWII era and later he and Emeline purchased a home in Applegate, Oregon.
Emeline passed away in Sacramento during a visit to see her children. She is buried next to her son Roger John Kantola at Sierra Hills Memorial Park, Sacramento, CA.
Arne spent his last years in the care of his daughter in Grants Pass.
