Funeral for Concetta "Tina" Carson, 71, Lawton, will be at 10 a.m. today at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Mrs. Carson died Saturday, July 26, 2008, in Lawton. Burial will be Sunset Memorial Gardens under direction of Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service.

She was born April 25, 1937, in Naples, Italy, to Vincenzo and Assunta Capuano Cioffi. She was raised and attended school in Italy.

She married William Arthur Carson on Oct. 7, 1956, in Naples, Italy. She was a serviceman's wife, and during her husband's career, they lived in Texas, Mississippi, Florida, Maine, Oklahoma and Spain. She received her citizenship in 1968 in Boston. She became a permanent resident of Lawton in 1971 after her husband's retirement.

She did babysitting in the family home for several years. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, VFW Post No. 5263 Auxiliary, and the International Wife's Association.

She enjoyed working with ceramics, playing and winning at bingo, meeting and socializing with different people, and traveling.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law: Shirley Carson Catlin and Rick, Lawton; Maj. Italia A. Carson, serving in Baghdad, Iraq; and Mina Carson Purser and William, Silver Creek, Ga; grandchildren: Rachel Lynn Catlin, Lawton; and Justice Purser, Joey Purser and Jordan Purser, all of Silver Creek, Ga; three sisters and a brother-in-law: Maria and Ken McGrew, San Diego; Carmen Cioffi, Fuorigrotta, Naples, Italy; and Rita Jervolino, Caravaggio, Naples, Italy; a cousin, Ann Gordon, Lawton; and numerous extended family in the U.S. and in Italy.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a sister, Cira Lubrano; a brother, Luigi Cioffi; and two brothers-in-law: Italo Lambiase and Charles F. Hill.
