Mrs. Elizabeth Sharpnack, wife of Samuel Sharpnack of Rices Landing, died Tuesday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. R. Covert, who resides across the river from Rices Landing. Mrs. Sharpnack was 72 years old. Mr. and Mrs. Sharpnack had spent the winter at Oakland, Orange county, Florida, and had returned to Rices Landing only a few weeks ago. Last week she was taken ill of grippe and continued to grow worse until her death Tuesday evening. Mrs. Sharpnack was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Moredock and was reared on the old Moredock farm near Rices Landing, which is now owned by W. A. Moredock. In August 1861 she was married to Samuel Sharpnack and to this union four daughters were born. One daughter, Ella, died in infancy and three survive as follows: Mrs. J. W. Hughes of East End, Pittsburg; Mrs. R. A. Covert of Rices Landing and Mrs. William Goudy of Rices Landing. Besides the husband and daughters Mrs. Sharpnack is survived by a sister, Mrs. William Reynolds of Jefferson township; a brother, Samuel Moredock of Iowa; one half brother, John Moredock of California and two half sisters, Mrs. John Goslin of Rices Landing and Mrs. Eliza Ellen Martin of Tennessee. Mrs. Sharpnack was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian church, being one of the charter members of the Hewitt Presbyterian church. The services were held Thursday afternoon in the Hewitt church. Interment in the Hewitt cemetery.
