Keith Arden Smith, 68, of Franklin RD4, died at 5 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at his residence. Born May 11, 1931, in Meadville, he was a son of Clarence W. and Marian F. Gable Smith.

Mr. Smith was a 1950 graduate of Rocky Grove High School. He served with the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Smith was employed for 32 years at the A&P Store, retiring in 1982.

He was a member of the Uniontown Sunday School and Church.

Mr. Smith was a sports fan, enjoying baseball and football; played golf, and liked gardening and lawn care.

He was married May 10, 1971, to Charlotte P. Baker who survives. Also surviving are three step sons and their wives, Gale and Linda Shouey, John and Lisa Grove, and Ronald and Dawn Grove, all of Franklin; nine step grandchildren, Justin M. Palmer, Lindsey A Shouey, Mark C. Shouey, Kasey L. Grove, Jacob Ryan Grove, Leah B. Shouey, Matthew W. Shouey, John T. Grove, and Savannah M Grove, all of Franklin; and one step great-grandchild, Bailey Palmer of Franklin.

He is also survived by three brothers, Ellwood M. Smith of Wayne, Jerome E. Smith of Broomall, and Corliss A. Smith of Port Orange, FL; and five sisters, Mrs. Richard (Donna L.)Snyder of Polk, Mrs. Donald (Colleen J.) Ahrens of Oil City, Mrs. Richard (Patricia R.) Lindberg of Sandusky, N.Y., Mrs. Charles (Carol M.) Campbell of Berea, Ohio, and Mrs. A James (Lois L.) Kline of Franklin.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceeded in death by a brother, Clyde William Smith; his stepfather, Theodore Fox; and an infant son, Steven Keith Smith.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. John Sass Jr., pastor of the Uniontown Sunday School and Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Franklin Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Uniontown Church or to the Visiting Nurses Association.
