PEARL LOUISE ATKINSON, 67, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 1, 2008 at William Newton Hospital.
Born on January 14, 1941 in Winfield, Kansas, she was the daughter of Amos R and Leona (Hall) Evans. She was raised and received her education in Winfield.

She was united in marriage on December 19, 1964 to Larry Atkinson in Udall, Kansas. The couple made their home in Wichita, Kansas and later Aberdeen, South Dakota, before coming to Winfield in to open Larry's Resteraunt. They owned and operated Larry's Restaurant in Winfield for many years and Pearl was later employed in the bakery at Boggart's.

Pearl enjoyed attending the First Assembly of God Church in Winfield. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing dominoes on the computer and emailing friends and family. She was an avid fan of the University of Kansas Sports, Paul Pierce and the Boston Celtics, and the Atlanta Braves. Pearl also enjoyed traveling to many places including Hawaii, Texas, and Florida.

Her family includes: Her husband: Larry of the home; Her son: David W. Atkinson and wife LeeAnn of Winfield; Her step-son: Larry Paul; Her step-daughters: Betty Sue and Connie; Her grandchildren: Matthew, KayLeigh, Crystal, Karly and Kayla; Her brothers: Raymond Evans of Winfield, KS; Wally Evans of Winfield, KS; Tom Evans of Udall, KS; and Wayne Evans of Rock, KS; Her sisters: Liz Richardson of Haysville, KS; and Janet White of Haysville, KS; Her longtime friend: Shirley Malone; and A host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Larry Joe Atkinson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, June 5, 2008 at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at the Udall Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M. on Wednesday. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. that evening.

Memorials may be made to an educational fund for Pearl's grandchildren or to the United Methodist Church in Udall. Contributions may be made through the funeral home or at the Corner Bank in Winfield.
