John was a son of the late William and Elsie (Metzgar) Bartholomew. He was the beloved husband of Emma (Mosteller) Bartholomew. They had observed their 68th wedding anniversary in June. He had been a crane operator at Bethlehem Steel for 35 years before retiring. Prior to that, he had worked at a pocketbook factory in Stroudsburg and as a weaver at Robert Gottier's Ribbon Factory in Stroudsburg. He also had been a dairy farmer. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, John Dale Bartholomew and his wife, Barbara, of Saylorsburg and Clark Bartholomew Sr. and his wife, Jane, of Canadensis; five grandchildren, Clark Bartholomew Jr. of Canadensis, Jeffri and Walter Bartholomew of Saylorsburg, Catherine Feller of Brodheadsville and Staci Doran of Carteret, N.J.; eight great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mary Rinker of Brodheadsville; two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Mosteller of Snydersville and Forrest Altemose of South Carolina; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Janice Bartholomew, in 2006; by two brothers, the Rev. Wilson Rinker and LeRoy Rinker; and a sister, Gladys Serfass.
