In 1852 Maria married Samuel Shuman Moffett who owned S.S. Moffett and Son (a drygoods store) at 112 E. Main St, Madison. They lived at 424 Mulberry St, Madison. They had 8 children; a boy and girl died in childhood but the others lived to ripe old ages.
Samuel & Maria were devout Presbyterians and two of their sons became ministers; one, Samuel Austin Moffett, was the first missionary in Korea where he spent 50 years; his remains were moved back to Korea at the request of the Korean Presbyterian Church in 2007 in recognition of his contribution to the Presbyterian missionary work.
Maria is my great grandmother.
