Herschel Elvin McDaniel, Sr., 81, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital.
He was a native of Lake Providence, Louisiana and had resided in the Beaumont area most of his life. Mr. McDaniel was a retired trucking owner and operator, having worked for Suttles Trucking Company until his retirement at the age of 75. He was a longtime member of Westgate Baptist Church.
His son, Herschel McDaniel, Jr. preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Sue McDaniel of Beaumont; sons, Russell McDaniel of Beaumont, Bruce McDaniel and his wife Denise of Dallas and Chuck McDaniel and his wife Angie of Houston; eight grandchildren, Dee Dee Irick, Bruce McDaniel, Jr., Eric McDaniel, Michael McDaniel, Dustin McDaniel, Tosha Carrillo, Katy McDaniel and Kyle McDaniel; and seven great grandchildren, Bethany and Rebekah Irick, Zack Purcell, Cooper and London McDaniel, Adrian and Anthony Carrillo.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2008 at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont, with cremation to follow at Broussard's Crematorium. A gathering of family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2008 at the mortuary.
