Murray George Stowe- "Mac" -passed away on the evening of July 30, 2008 at Beehive House in Kanab, Utah, surrounded by his family.

Mac was born on July 5, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Harry and Loretta Stowe, the younger of two brothers. Mac graduated from West High School in 1942. Entered the US Army Air Corps and was commissioned a second lieutenant, served as a B-24 pilot with the 15th Army Air Force, 450th Bomb Group (Heavy), 723rd Squadron. Having been shot down no less than three times, Mac was finally captured by German forces and spent the last days of World War II as a POW. Upon his liberation, he attended the University of Utah and earned a BS in Business Administration. In 1955 he married Nyleene Hume, and together they raised their three children in Salt Lake and Bountiful. They spent 51 great years together. He was employed by Redman Moving and Storage, and eventually became co-owner and president of the company until his retirement. Mac was a third generation member of Acacia Lodge #17, Free and Accepted Masons in Salt Lake City and was elected Most Worshipful Grand Master of Masons in Utah in 1977. He later served as Grand Secretary and was active with the El Kalah Shrine. Mac was also a longtime member and Past Master of Montana Lodge #2 in Ennis and dearly enjoyed his many close friends there. He lived his dream of moving to Montana, and spent over 20 years with Nyleene at the Moonwater cabin near Quake Lake on the Madison River. Fly fishing, hunting and all things outdoors were lifelong passions, and his custom made flies were highly sought after items. He was a top-ranked black-powder shooter for many years in Montana, was a long time member of the Bridger Mountain Men, and was a founding member of Mountain Men of the Wasatch.

Mac was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Edgar, and his beloved wife, Nyleene. He is survived by his daughter, Susan H. Mabey (Gary) of Oro Valley, AZ; son, Shaun (Michelle) Stowe of Bountiful, Utah; daughter, Sandy (Jim) Baker of Kanab, Utah; his grandkids, great-grandkids and a circle of close friends.

Funeral Services will be held in Salt Lake City on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 10 a.m. at the Salt Lake Masonic Temple, 650 East South Temple Street, under the direction of Evans and Early Mortuary.
Interment to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
