U.S. Congressman. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1897 and commenced to practice law in Sunbury, Pennsylvania. He was District Attorney of Northumberland County, (1901, 1904-08) and was judge of the common pleas court of Northumberland County, (1911-21). In 1923, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-eighth Congress, serving until 1925. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law and was appointed judge of Northumberland County Pennsylvania, serving (1935-46). He died at age 82 on March 4, 1956.
