The Messenger. 07.31.08 - James M. Edwards, 85, of Woodland Mills died July 30, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City. Services will be 1 pm Friday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with burial following in Mount Olive Cemetery in the Crystal community. Friends may call this evening at the funeral home from 5-8. The Rev. Larry Nichols will officiate and pallbearers will be Randy Ursery, Jeff Victory, Tim McCord, Danny Williams, Bobby Brunswick, Johnny Lane, Ben Hudson and Elvis Stewart Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Mount Olive Baptist Church in the Crystal community.

He was born Feb. 22, 1923, in Obion County, son of the late Oscar Robert and Lula Bell (Grooms) Edwards. He married the former Edith Elizabeth Stewart May 28, 1949. She survives. He had been a mechanic for the Obion County Highway Department and was a US Army Aircorps veteran of World War II. He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church and had been a deacon, Sunday school teacher and song leader. He had also been an alderman for the City of Woodland Mills and was a 1941 graduate of the former Dixie High School.

Survivors also include his daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Bud Hudson of Union City; two grandchildren, Ben Hudson and Brittany Hudson, both of Union City; his step-granddaughter, Barbie Sharp of Union City; several nieces and nephews; and four step-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his brother, HA Edwards; and his sister, Marlene Bramlett.
