John Andrew Jackson Cook served for the Confederate Cause in the Civil War and served with Owen's Co., Douglas Regiment of MO Calvary. He was killed Oct 1865 in Arkansas where he was buried in the Horton family cemetery which was destroyed later by farming.
His memorial marker is in Beulah [Church] Cemetery in Chariton Co, MO, next to his wife, Elizabeth Houston Cook, and oldest son, Joseph Turner Cook - also a CSA veteran. Other children were: Jasper J Cook (1855), Isaac S Cook (1859), and Mary C Cook (1865).
