Carl Hurley Sr., of Springfield, formerly of Thayer and Auburn, died at 4:05 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Hospital North.
He was born in Richmond, Ky., the son of William and Julia McNeil Hurley.
He married Lucille Gumm on April 5, 1914. She preceded him in death on Feb. 6, 1965.
Mr. Hurley farmed in the Auburn area for many years and later lived in Thayer and Springfield.
He was a painter by trade after his retirement from farming.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Katherine Mueller, of Jacksonville; four sons, James Thomas Hurley, Walter Hurley, Glen Hurley, and Carl Hurley Jr., all of Springfield; 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were at the Staab Funeral Home.
Burial was in West Grove Cemetery, Thayer.
