Irvine Lewis Titus Korean conflict veteran was lifetime VFD member Irvine Lewis Titus, 3885 Morefield Road, Hermitage, passed away at
12:35 a.m. Saturday (8-2-08) in Hospitality Care Center, Hermitage. He was 79. Mr. Titus was born Oct. 25, 1928, in Hickory Township, a son of the
late Clarence and Pearl Fury Titus. He was a
lifelong area resident and attended Hickory schools. Mr. Titus drove school bus in Hickory Township during the 1950s and retired in 1979 from the Hermitage Road Department. After his retirement, he was employed at the Shenango Campus of Penn State University, Sharon. He also worked for several years at Morefield Cemetery, Hermitage. A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Titus served as a private first class in the 354th Motor Pool Company at Camp Pickett, Va., during the Korean conflict, and was stationed in Germany in 1952 with the 471st Quartermasters Company. He was a member of New Virginia United Methodist Church, Hermitage, and was a member and past president of its Methodist Men's organization. Mr. Titus was a a lifetime member of the Hickory Volunteer Fire Department and belonged to United Commercial
Travelers Association of Sharon. Surviving are: his wife, at home, the former Alice Ruth Smith, whom he married June 16, 1951, in New Virginia United Methodist Church, Hermitage; two daughters, Deborah Anne Candiotti and her husband Larry, Sharpsville; and Linda Greleski, Transfer; a granddaughter, Beth Anne Thomas and her husband Chris, Macedonia, Ohio; and a brother, Raymond Titus, Albany, Ore. Besides his parents, Mr. Titus was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Titus; and a son-in-law, Ralph Greleski. The family suggests memorial
contributions be made to New Virginia United
