Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Gettings of Jeffersonville, have been notified by the U.S. Defense Department of the combat death of their son, Marine PFC Guy C. Gettings, in South Vietnam.

The 19 year old Marine had been in Vietnam since Feb. 3 and had been listed as "missing" in actin since last Wednesday.

Gettings attended Jeffersonville High School and the old Chestnut Street Elementary School.

Also surviving are two brothers, Glen and Willie Gettings, both of Jeffersonville; four sisters, Mrs. Ray Bullock, Jefersonville, Mrs. Ernie Wimple and Mrs. Carl Gent, both of Bowling Green, KY., and Mrs William West, Pecca City, OK; his maternal grandfather, Fletcher Wolfe, Woodburn, KY and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Margaret Gettings, Franklin, KY.

The body will be returned to Bowling Green for funeral Services and burial.
