Mr. Virgil Lee Boatman, 72, resident of Stewart and native of Webster County, died Wednesday, April 10, 1991 at Kilmichael Hospital after a sudden illness.
Mr. Boatman, who was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lee Boatman and the husband of Frances Evans Boatman, was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of the VFW-Curtis-Jefcoat Post of Kilmichael, a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans-Jefferson Davis Camp 635 of Jackson, a member of Reeds Chapel Baptist Church near Stewart and a farmer.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 12 at Reeds Chapel Baptist Church. Officiating ministers were Bro. Ado Hunt and Mr. Lamar Wray. Burial was in Reeds Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Boatman is survived by his wife, Mrs. Frances Boatman of Stewart; five daughters, Mrs. Theresa Bridges, Mrs. Patsy White, Mrs. Verita Hathcock, Mrs. Thelma Dees, Mrs. Delma Mitchell, all of Stewart; two sons, V.H. Boatman of Winona and George Boatman of Stewart, two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Vaughn of Stewart and Mrs. Lelois Johnson of Jackson; and 11 grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Rene Threadgill, Winston Yeatman, Scott Yeatman, Joey Bridges, Bubba Johnson and Gerald Woods.
Oliver Funeral Home in Winona was in charge of arrangements.
