A funeral service for Walter A. Juchtzer, 85, a five-year Dayton resident, will be 1 p.m. Monday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley. Mr. Juchtzer died March 13, 2006, at Evergreen Care Center in Carson City.
He was born Dec. 23, 1920, in Minden, to Arnold and Charlotte Juchtzer. Before moving back to Northern Nevada, he lived in Alaska for 42 years. He retired from the Alaska Department of Highways.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a chief petty officer during World War II and the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Elks.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Juchtzer, and sisters Frances and Gertrude.
Among his survivors are his sisters, Elsie Adams of Genoa, and Zelma Simpson of Cherokee, Calif.; brothers William of Minden and Edward of Carson City, and numerous extended-family members.
Burial will take place at the Genoa Cemetery.
