Bill Pinkerton was the son of William Ward Pinkerton and Lura VanElla Kayser.

He married Jennie Mae Kiser on 1 June 1941 in Running Water, Hale County, Texas.

They had two sons.

Funeral services for William Albert (Bill) Pinkerton, 82, will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Grisham, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Bovina, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mr. Pinkerton died at 3:40 p.m. Saturday October 14, 1989, in Golden Plains Care Center in Canyon, Texas.

He was born April 4, 1907, in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He married May Kiser, June 1, 1941 in the Running Water Community. She died June 24, 1986. He moved to Halfway, Texas in 1909 where he grew up. He graduated from Plainview High School and attended Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas, in the school of Mechanical Engineering in 1926. He worked for the Naval Department in Washington D.C. from 1940 - 1945 and was manager of the Edmonson Wheat Growers until 1964.

He was a founder of the Edmonson Lions Club and High Plains Research Foundation, and was a former city councilman and mayor of Edmonson. He served as past chairman of the Hale County Democratic Committee and was a precinct chairman. He was a member of the Hale County Housing Authority, The AARP and the First United Methodist Church in Canyon and First Methodist Church in Halfway, Texas. He moved to Canyon, Texas in 1985.

Survivors include two sons, Bill Ed of Canyon, Texas, and Dr. Louis of Minot, North Dakota, four brothers, Allen of Rockville, Maryland, Ward and Owens of Halfway, Texas, Cecil of Tampa, Florida, a sister Helen Hart of Mission, Texas; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Hale County Farm and Ranch Museum at Hale Center, Texas.
