The deceased, who was 32 years of age, had been badly crippled for many years as a result of infantile paralysis and although he was unable to walk and get around only by the use of a low wheeled cart he was able to drive his own car to and from his work and was rated as a careful driver.
Just what was the cause of the accident will probably never be known as he never regained consciousness. The car was proceeding east but hit the overpass railing of the overpass on the north side of the slab and was badly damaged, Mr. Deal being pinned in the wreckage so that it was with difficulty that he was extricated, suffering a compound fracture of the jaw as well as head and internal injuries.
The deceased, who was born September 7, 1909, was a son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Maurice Deal and is survived by his parents and two brothers, Joseph M. Deal, of Kansas City, and Percy H. Deal of the home. He was a member of the Elmwood Methodist Church and was a young man who was held in very high regard by all his acquaintances.
The funeral services are to be held this Thursday, afternoon at 2 o'clock and burial will be made in the Ridge Park Cemetery. The services are to be conducted by Rev. Young, of Belton.
