TRUMAN C. POND OF MEREDOSIA DIES SATURDAY
Farmer Passes Away Suddenly While Putting Up Hay; Inquest is Held
Meredosia, Ill., Sept. 27.—Truman C. Pond died suddenly Saturday afternoon about four o'clock. He and a neighbor were putting up hay when he dropped dead.
Surviving are his wife, who was visiting at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Sam Coy at Arcola, Mrs. Coy being ill, and the following children, Boyd of Olney, Ill., Donald of Springfield, Mrs. Warren Irving and Earl of Meredosia, Mrs. Sam Coy of Arcola and Miss Caroline at home.
Mr. Pond was sixty-one years of age.
Coroner Young was notified and an inquest was held Saturday evening.
Funeral arrangements have not been made.

MEREDOSIA MAN DIED FROM HEART LESION
Truman C. Pond of Meredosia, who dropped dead Saturday afternoon while assisting Clyde W. Martin in putting up hay, came to his death from chronic Valvular heart lesion according to the finds of a jury of inquest impaneled by Coroner C. S. Young Saturday evening. The inquest was held at the Pond home in the north part of Meredosia.
Dr. Lois Neville, who was summoned to the field to see Mr. Pond, found him dying when he arrived; The physician's opinion was that the decedent died from a leakage of the heart valves, a chronic ailment. Mr. Martin testified as to the circumstances surrounding the sudden death.
The jury consisted of Wade H. Irving, foreman: B. R. Wilday, W. L. Wilday, Mrs. Eva Fox. Carl Myers, and C. L. Duvendack. Mr. Pond was 61 years of age.
Mrs. Pond was not at home at the time of her husband's death, but was visiting at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Sam Coy, at Arcola. Decedent is survived by his wife and the following children: Floyd, of Olney; Donald of Springfield; Mrs. Warren Irving and Earl Pond, of Meredosia; Mrs. Sam Coy of Arcola, and Miss Caroline Pond at home.

Obituary
Our community was startled last Saturday afternoon about 4 o'clock to learn of the sudden death of T. C. Pond who, while working in a field north of town dropped dead from heart failure.
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock from the M. E. church, conducted by Rev. Jeffers of White Hall, a former pastor here and a close friend of the family. He was assisted by Rev. G. G. Maple of Bath and Rev. E. A. Hedges, pastor of the M. E. church here. Mrs. C. G. Wegehoft and Mrs. T. W. Burdick with Mrs. H. A. Naylor accompanist sang the songs "He is so Precious to Me," "My Savior First of All, " "The Land Where we Never say Goodbve." Rev. Jeffers sang a solo, "When They Ring Those Golden Bells."
The beautiful floral tributes were cared for by Mrs. Lyle Martin, Mrs. Raymond Scott, Mrs. Bernard Simmson and Mrs. Geo. Fox. The casket bearers were C. M. Skinner, Joe Butcher, D. F. Beauchamp, Chas. Gord, Lyle Martin and Albert Mayes. Following the services here the remains were taken to the family burial lot in the cemetery at Berlin. Following is the obituary sketch.
Truman C. Pond was born March 30th. 1870, near Concord and departed this life Sept. 27. 1930. He was married to Carrie L. Simpson, Aug. 31, 1891, and to this union seven children were born one dying in infancy. Those surviving are: His widow and the following children: Boyd of Olney, Elton of Arcola; Earle, of Meredosia; Donald of Springfield; Nita of Meredosia and Carolyn at home. Besides eight grandchildren and the immediate family, he leaves to mourn seven brothers and one sister, one brother and one sister having preceded him in death, also numerous relatives and friends.
The deceased united with the Methodist church of this place Dec. 29th, 1912 and at the time of his death still held his membership here,
