James parents are James Silas Kenney and Amanda Emaline Garrison Kenney. His siblings are: Cora Lea (Queens) 1902, Floyd George 1905, Hilbert N. 1908, Noble N. 1913 and Emmit Ray 1921. James married Leona Geraldine Turner July 20, 1940 in San Jose, CA. Their children are: James Raymond, Gary Wesley, Phillip Wayne and Patti Jean (Shahan). With the exception of a few months working in orchards and canneries in California, James lived his entire life in the Arnica community. He and Leona raised their family in his "old home place". He was "saved" at an early age in an Arnica revival and "baptized" in Turkey Creek. James was a lifelong member of Fairview Missionary Baptist Church and taught his children Christian beliefs.
