Lloyd Hershel "Sloe" McLennan, 90, of Valley Mills, passed away Aug. 12, 2008, at a local nursing home. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, under the direction of Foss Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.

Lloyd was born in Valley Mills, Texas, to the late Johnnie Louis and Lucy (Wortham) McLennan. He attended school in Valley Mills and was a member of the West Point United Methodist Church. He later started attending services at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Valley Mills. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1941 to 1945 in the Philippines theatre. After serving in the U.S. Army, he returned to Valley Mills, where he went back to work for Fred Hall Construction and worked there until he retired. He met Ozella P. Johnson of Mart, in 1947. They were united in marriage on Nov. 7, 1948, and were married for 54 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 2002; and a brother, J. L. McLennan.

Left to celebrate his life is son, Edwin Motley and wife, Beverly, of Valley Mills; nieces, Carolyn Hall and husband, James, of Waco, Marilyn Norris, of Atlanta, Ga., and Regina Ponder, of Waco; nephews, Johnnie Ray McLennan and wife, Jana, Ronald Louis McLennan and wife, JoElla, all of Waco; a special cousin, Shelby Walker, of Ft. Worth; and a special nephew, Charles Hopkins, of Valley Mills.
