The following obituary appeared in the "Indiana Evening Gazette" (Indiana, PA) on Wednesday, August 16, 1967, page 4, column 8:

GEORGE HENRY ABEL, 51, of 586 South Seventh St., Indiana, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 1967, at the Indiana Hospital.

A son of Ariel and Ada Barr Abel, he was born April 12, 1916, in Grant Twp., Indiana County.

He was the husband of the former Ethel Learn and prior to his death he was employed by the C & C Coal Company of Clarksburg, Pa. He was a member of the Antioch Lutheran Church at Deckers Point.

Surviving are his wife and parents, mentioned above, and the following children: George A., Home R.D. 1; Lloyd A., Pleasant Unity; Dorothy J., at home; Alvie T., with the U. S. Air Force at Kessler Air Force Base, Miss.; two sisters: Mrs, Woodrow (Celeste) Learn, San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs. Monroe (Lucille) Heberling, Clymer R. D. 1; and one grandchild.

Friends will be received after 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 2-4 and 7-10 p.m. Thursday at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Hillsdale, where funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. George A. McNeel and lay pastor John M. Lanning, officiating. Interment will be in the Best Cemetery, Deckers Point.
