Civil War Veteran: (7 May 1861-20 Sept 1861) Private in Company H, 1st Regiment of Wisconsin Infantry; Reinlisted 30 Aug 1862 in Manistee, Michigan in Company I, 6th Regiment of Michigan Cavalry. Injured about 15 Sept 1865 while in pursuit of Indians near Platte River Bridge, Wyoming Territory when his Spencer rifle exploded in its saddle scabbard and wounded his right knee. Discharged as a Commisary Sargeant 24 Nov 1865 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas Territory.
